I use dubbing cables in lieu of component cables and
find no video image problems. By the way did they
forget about the “color blind” people when they came
out wth the component cable farce?
Current programming is being uconverted for
viewing on HDTVs, but the audio is still “analog
stereo”. Most people do not utilize outside antennas,
so why influence them to buy an HDTV in lieu of
    an HD Monitor?

AN EXCELENT ARTICAL ON ARTIFACTS FOR SD AND HDTV, I REALLY NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH SOME OF THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING WITH MY NEW SAMSUNG UN55B600VF HDTV AND THIS ARTICALE ANSWERED THEM ALL IN A WAY A NON TECHNICAL PERSON CAN UNDERSTAND.

THANKS FOR A JOB WELL DONE.

    TOM SHAW

    NOTE :

WISH YOU HAD AN ARTICAL ON SOME OF THE ADJUSTMENTS FOR MINOR CALIBRATION ON HDTV AS THE MANUAL IS NOT VERY CLEAR AS HOW TO USE THE MANY ADJUSTMENTS TO OBTAIN A GREAT PICTURE AS THE DEFAULT ADJUSTMENTS PROBABLY ARE OFF SOMEWHAT, JUST AND UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT THESE CONTROLLS WILL/WON’T DO WOULD BE A GREAT HELP TO MOST PEOPLE BUYING A HDTV OR EVEN IF THEY ALREADY HAVE ONE.

    THANKS AGAIN.

I see hdtv’s in stores and it looks great.

I see them in homes and, when watching a football game in hd, it looks really, really bad. The picture is very sharp, but it’s something about the depth perception or proportions or something that make it look just awful.

Do you know what i’m talking about, and if so, why is that? I have no use for one of em till i figure out why, and the way to make it look like it does in the stores.

It is probably due to a combination of the longer viewing distance and the higher contrast settings in the stores. You may be a candidate for a good LCD if you like brighter displays.
